Fong Family Trust Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Lola Fong and her family. It is a $500 scholarship which is intended to help a DHS senior that is going to school for automotive or a related field (tech or trade school, certification or licensure program). Possible examples include, but are not limited too: automotive technician, salesman, parts manager, etc.). Many Dickinson High graduates started their careers at Parkway Ford. The Fong family has always appreciated the support they received from the people of Dickinson and Western North Dakota, and this is their way of giving back.

Rewarding Kindness Scholarship

This scholarship was established by a former Dickinson High School student who wanted to “give back” to a Dickinson High School graduating senior. He said that life has been good to him and he has fond memories of his time at Dickinson High School. The $500 Rewarding Kindness Scholarship was created to reward a student that is a “good” kid.

Jack L. Carlson Memorial Scholarship

The Jack Carlson family requested that the Dickinson Public Schools Foundation include a scholarship fund in their programs. The Jack L. Carlson Memorial Scholarship is an annual $1,000 scholarship established by his family, in his honor, to continue his legacy “of making a difference in the lives of young kids.” Mr. Carlson was a math teacher and football and track coach at Dickinson High School.

Michael Callahan Memorial Hockey Scholarship

The Michael Callahan Memorial Hockey Scholarship was established by the Callahan family in honor of their son, Michael. Hockey was a huge part of life for the Callahan family. Michael was a 2002 graduate of Dickinson High and hockey was the highlight of his high school career. Michael started skating on the Heart River with skates his dad had retrieved from the dump and he ended up being on the first DHS team to make it to the state hockey tournament. The $500 scholarship is awarded annually to a Dickinson High School hockey player who is furthering his education at a college or university in the fall.

Mrs. Jan Fields Education Scholarship

An endowed scholarship has been established to honor Mrs. Jan Fields, a former second grade teacher in the school district for 38 years (mostly at Roosevelt Elementary). Mrs. Fields was also a dedicated member of the Dickinson Public Schools Foundation, and volunteered in the Dickinson community. A $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a Dickinson High School senior that is pursuing a degree in education. The first scholarship was awarded the Spring of 2023.

Alvin Chalupnik Memorial Scholarship

Alvin worked in the instructional media center and as a custodian at Roosevelt Elementary for many years. He passed away in the spring of 2023. He left a planned giving gift to the DPS Foundation. A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded annually in his honor to help a DHS senior that is going to a trade school, certification or licensure program.
