Dickinson, ND — The Dickinson Public Schools Foundation is proud to announce the recipients of distinguished scholarships for the 2024–2025 academic year.
Shayden Jackson-Zietz has been selected to receive the Michael Callahan Memorial Hockey Scholarship. A varsity hockey player known for both his academic achievement and athletic talent, Shayden has demonstrated leadership as an assistant captain, while also giving back to the sport by coaching youth players and serving as a referee. Shayden will attend Montana Tech to study electrical engineering.
Bella Anderson has been selected to receive the Rewarding Kindness Scholarship. Bella’s heartfelt story of generosity, inspired by her great-grandmother’s legacy, and her compassionate act of donating baby dolls to dementia patients in a local nursing home truly embody the spirit of this award. She will be attending Bismarck State College.
Jeremy Harding has been awarded the Mrs. Fields Education Scholarship. Jeremy’s commitment to becoming an educator and coach is rooted in his own transformative experience with caring teachers who helped him overcome academic and personal challenges. He plans to pursue a degree in Sports Coaching at Mayville State University.
Angel Weigum has been selected to receive the Fong Family Trust Scholarship. Angel has discovered a true calling in the field of welding, first sparked in a high school class where the guidance of her instructor, Clarence Hauck, helped her recognize her potential. With the continued encouragement of her family to follow what makes her happy, Angel has chosen to attend Lynnes Welding Training in Bismarck, North Dakota.
Sabrina Bookhardt has been selected to receive the Guiding Light Scholarship in Honor of Carma Gerbig. Sabrina will attend the University of Mary to study biology with a focus on human genetics—a passion sparked in middle school and fueled by a desire to help others through scientific research. From fighting disease to protecting biodiversity, Sabrina is committed to using her knowledge to make a difference.
Tommy Peters has been selected to receive the Guiding Light Scholarship in Honor of Carma Gerbig. Tommy has participated in the DHS Peer to Peer Program and inclusive sports tournaments showing his empathy, imagination, and dedication to community mirror the heart and mission of this scholarship’s namesake. This fall, Tommy will attend North Dakota State University to pursue journalism through their TAP certification program, with a focus on screenwriting.
Taylor Crone has been selected to receive the Alvin Chalupnik Memorial Scholarship. During her time at the Southwest Area CTE Academy, Taylor achieved the impressive milestone of becoming a National Board-Certified Dental Assistant, successfully passing all three board exams. She also completed over 600 hours of hands-on experience at Aspire Dental in Dickinson. Taylor will continue her journey in the dental field by attending Minnesota State Community and Technical College to pursue a degree in dental hygiene, building on her outstanding foundation of skills and dedication.
Jayden Atkins has been selected to receive the Jack Carlson Memorial Scholarship. A dedicated student-athlete, Jayden has maintained a 4.0 GPA while excelling in cross country, track, volleyball, student council, Girl Scouts, and the National Honor Society. She will attend the University of Mary to pursue an accelerated nursing degree with the goal of becoming a family nurse practitioner.
Cecelia Homiston has been named a posthumous recipient of the Jack Carlson Memorial Scholarship. Cecelia’s kindness, spirit, and immense potential left a lasting impact on those around her. This scholarship is awarded in her honor, as a tribute to the meaningful legacy she leaves behind.
