Background Information
Gene Fong was born in Medora, ND. He was raised and educated in Belfield, ND. Lola (Snow) Fong was born and raised in Beach, ND, graduating high school in 1951. Gene and Lola were married in Beach in 1953. They lived there for four years and while in Beach, daughter, Sherry (Ziemann) and son, Bradley were born.
In 1957 the family moved to Dickinson. The youngest daughter, Lona (Cross) was born in Dickinson in 1959. Lola worked at the Stark County Court House for 18 years. Gene began working as a car salesman at various new car dealerships in Dickinson. In 1963, Gene’s Motor Sales was formed. Gene sold used cars, trucks and campers for 13 years. In 1976, Gene became the majority owner of Parkway Ford Sales, Inc. Within a couple of years, the Dealership became all family owned. In 1987, Gene passed away and Bradley became the President of the corporation with Lola, Sherry and Lona as stockholders and board members.
Throughout the 41 years that the Fong family owned Parkway Ford, the Dealership provided jobs and contributed to the Dickinson community. Many Dickinson High graduates started their careers at Parkway Ford. In August of 2017, the Dealership was sold, and all members are now retired.
